At Time and Patience Dog Training, we do more than teach you a series of commands. We strive to help you understand how your dog thinks, and encourage you to see the world through your dog's eyes. Instead of simply showing you how to teach a sit or a down, we teach you how to solve problems. The knowledge you gain will make you a better pet owner, make your dog a better companion, and make your home and life a better place to be.

Basic Companion Class (5 weeks)

In our Basic Companion Class, you will learn how to set your dog on the right path to becoming a safe, responsive and well-mannered member of your family. In addition to basic commands such as sit, down and stay, you will also learn how to teach your dog to leave it, walk nicely on lead, relax on command, and come when called.

Our Basic Companion Class also includes basic manners and life skills, such as how to stop jumping up, drop objects on command and prevent door dashing.

The five-week course includes weekly tests and a final exam to test your dog’s skills against our Graduation Standards.

The Basic Companion Class is open to dogs over ten weeks of age, with age-appropriate vaccinations. Our Correct Companion and Off-Leash Companion classes are recommended for dogs over six months of age with basic training skills.

The Basic Companion Class runs for one hour, once a week for five weeks. It includes written handouts and training logs, and costs $195 plus GST.

Correct Companion Class (5 weeks)

Our Correct Companion Class focuses on perfecting the skills covered in our Basic Companion Class. You will gain confidence in your dog, and eliminate your reliance on treats in training. With the gradual and fair introduction of corrections, you will learn how to be the leader your dog needs, and your dog will learn the importance of following rules because it's the right thing to do.

In addition to "cementing" all the commands covered in our Basic Companion Class, you will learn advanced behaviours such as place, heel, automatic sits and stay at a distance.

The Correct Companion Class is an intense training program, with daily homework assignments, and requires a strong commitment from owners to help lay the necessary foundation for our Off-Leash Companion Class.

The Correct Companion Class is recommended for dogs over six months of age. It is generally open to all dogs who have completed the Basic Companion Class, or at the discretion of the instructor. The course includes daily homework assignments, written handouts and training logs.

The Correct Companion Class runs for one hour, once a week for five weeks. The cost for the course, including daily homework assignment handouts, training logs and all training equipment is $195 plus GST.

Off-Leash Companion Class (5 weeks)

Our Off-Leash Companion Class is the last class you will ever have to take with your dog! With an exclusive focus on achieving off-leash reliability, the Off-Leash Companion Class is highly recommended for all dogs over six months of age.

Our Off-Leash Companion Class will help you teach your dog to follow your commands the first time, every time. Whether you're at the dog park, on the street, in the backyard, or at the cottage, by following the instructions and completing the daily assignments in our Off-Leash Companion Class your dog will learn to listen to you EVEN IN THE FACE OF DISTRACTION.

The five-week course includes weekly tests and a final exam to test your dog’s skills against our Graduation Standards. The Off-Leash Companion Class is an intense training program, with daily homework assignments, and requires a strong commitment from owners to help your dog become the best he can be.

The Off-Leash Companion Class is recommended for dogs over six months of age. It is generally open to all dogs who have completed the Basic Companion and Correct Companion classes, or at the discretion of the instructor.
