Dog Seminars • Having a Baby?

Get Ready, Rover!
(or, how to help your dog
get ready to meet your new baby)

The “Get Ready, Rover!” seminar is recommended by the Department of Family Life and Childbirth at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre.

Congratulations! You’re expecting a baby, and everyone is very excited. But how will your “first baby” – your dog – react to your new bundle of joy? You can make the transition easier for everybody by doing a few things now to help Rover adjust.

Our Get Ready, Rover! seminar is a 90-minute private, in-home program that will help you teach your dog:

  • how to react to the sounds and smells of a new baby.
  • to learn what behaviour is expected when you bring your baby home.
  • to adjust to not being the center of attention at all times.

While “Get Ready, Rover!” identifies and briefly covers the behaviours that will be helpful once your child comes home, the 90-minute format does not allow for extensive teaching or practicing of these commands. For a more in-depth opportunity to learn and practice with your dog, sign up for one of our group classes, or take advantage of our private, in-home training program.
